Legislative Director

The Office of State Representative Paul Dyson is seeking a dedicated, experienced professional to serve as Legislative Director for the 90th legislative session. This is a full-time position spanning from Fall 2026 through the conclusion of the regular session, with the potential for extension depending on office needs and performance. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in public policy, a comprehensive understanding of the Texas legislative process, and the drive to help advance the Representative's legislative priorities.

Responsibilities

  •  Collaborate on the development and drafting of the Representative's policy agenda and legislative initiatives.
  • Serve as the lead staff member responsible for advancing bills successfully through the legislative process.
  • Review and analyze pending legislation while assisting with daily legislative calendar preparation.
  • Professionally represent the office and Representative when engaging with constituents, advocacy groups, and state stakeholders.
  • Perform additional administrative and legislative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Thorough, practical understanding of the Texas legislative process with at least one session of legislative experience or strong interest in public policy matters preferred.
  • Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize, and thrive in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills paired with a high standard of professionalism.
  • Detail-oriented work ethic with a strict commitment to deadlines.
  • A collaborative, team-oriented mindset coupled with the initiative to work independently.

Salary

Salary commensurate with experience.
