The Office of State Representative Aicha Davis is seeking a District Director to serve House District 109 located in southern Dallas County. In Representative Davis’ freshman term, our office has already been recognized as a highly productive one that delivers for the people in our district. Representative Davis seeks a District Director who shares this high-energy attitude and is ready to work for the people of Texas.
Under the supervision of the Chief of Staff, the District Director will be the leader of the District Office and plan events, set up constituent services outreach and engagement programs, attend local events, and be the primary liaison for constituents seeking assistance from state agencies.
We are seeking a motivated individual who wants to make a positive impact in their community, help people in need, and learn about how the state government can improve life for Texans.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and execute events hosted by the office such as Town Halls and Constituent Roundtables;
- Staff the member and/ or attend in place at events in and around the District;
- Monitor and update Representative and Capitol Staff on local events and issues;
- Attend and report on meetings of local government bodies and various boards;
- Provide day-to-day administrative and planning support to develop the Representative's outreach programs to targeted constituent groups;
- Serve as primary contact for constituents seeking assistance from state agencies
- Document constituent services in CMS and submit written and verbal reports to update the team;
- Maintain updated contact lists: elected officials, community leaders, constituents, etc.;
- Write and send: certificates, birthday, sympathy cards, thank you notes, House resolutions, etc.;
- Supervises and mentors interns;
- Assist with creating digital communications and newsletters;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must have exceptional oral and written communication skills;
- Ability to interact and effectively communicate with the community, including public and elected officials and their respective staffs;
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently with the ability to exercise initiative and think creatively;
- Must have reliable transportation AND live in or near the district;
- Must have strong customer service skills and interact positively with others.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working for local, state, or federal government.
- Fluent in Spanish.
Compensation & Benefits
$2,500 - $3,500 per month, employer-paid healthcare, vision, and dental, competitive retirement benefits with employer match options, generous paid time off and vacation policy, paid parental leave up to 12 weeks.
