Archivist II
SUMMARY:Performs archival work which include organization and maintenance of recordings, tapes and documents (paper and/or electronic). Coordinates the collection, organization, analysis, and preservation of records. Maintains the official record of House proceedings. Performs administrative office duties including file maintenance, answering/ routing phone calls, and managing office supplies. All work performed under the direct supervision of the House Video/Audio Department manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Receives and responds to requests from House members, state agencies and the general public.
- Responds to inquiries of the Video/Audio Department.
- Researches changes to the Public Information Act to be informed and comply with new laws as written.
- Prepares certification forms for recordings and documents when requested.
- Identifies, analyzes and arranges records; recommends appropriate disposition of records.
- Prepares billing for requests from House members, committees, agencies and the general public. Gathers archival material for walk-in clients upon request.
- Maintains and operates Video/Audio "listening room" including "training" of walk-ins on how to operate equipment.
- Maintains database of incoming requests to use Video/Audio recording devices for off-site House meetings.
- Receive, document and maintain archive of recordings from House committees and floor debates during legislative session, including recordings for interim meetings; entering information in database, printing and filing reports.
- Provide video/audio production assistance as needed.
- Performs other related work as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:Experience in archival work and responding to open records requests preferred. Graduation from high school or equivalent. Graduation from an accredited college is generally preferred. Education and experience may be substituted one for another.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:Knowledge of professional archival methods, practices, procedures, and standards of records management issues and practices. General knowledge of state government policies and procedures preferred. Considerable knowledge of overall practices and equipment required for multimedia and audio/video work to include audio, video, and selected computer functions. Applicant must also be able to communicate effectively and professionally with members, staff and the general public. Skill in the use of computer, applicable software and desktop applications. Must be able to work in fast-paced environment. Must be able to meet strict deadlines. Must have flexibility to work extended hours and weekends as required. Must adhere to department dress code and demonstrate the ability to follow all policies and procedures as set forth in the Personnel Manual of Policies and Procedures.
GENERAL SALARY INFORMATION:
SALARY RANGE: | State Salary Group B-18. Salary will be determined by experience and qualifications. |
