Texas Deputy Secretary of State Coby Shorter, III, Patsy Spaw, Secretary of the Texas Senate and Julie Straus, wife of Speaker Joe Straus, Texas House of Representatives, were on hand as Bob Garber, president of the Texas Christmas Tree Growers Association (TCTGA), delivered the official 2010 Capitol Christmas trees to the south steps of the Texas State Capitol. Bob and Marilyn Garber, owners of the Silo Christmas Tree Farm in Temple, Texas, delivered three 7 ft. Fraser Firs. The horse drawn carriage procession traveled to the south steps for a press conference held at 11:00 a.m. The horse carriage was provided by Elaine Glass at Die Gelbe Rose Carriage. The trees were then delivered to the House, Senate, and the Office of the Governor. Mike Walterscheidt with TCTGA delivered additional trees to the Capitol from Elgin, Texas, including two 8-10 ft. Fraser Firs to be placed in the back hall behind the House and Senate Chambers, and the 18 ft. Virginia Pine for the House Chamber delivered to the Capitol with the assistance of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and the State Preservation Board.
