ADMINISTRATIVE CLERK
(SESSION POSITION)SUMMARY: Facilitates and oversees administrative aspects of the House Research Organization (HRO) office during the 90th legislative session. The position begins in October and lasts through the end of the regular legislative session. All work performed under the direct supervision of the House Research Organization manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Assists in coordinating and managing daily HRO office operations.
- Responsible for filing, scheduling, managing supplies, and printing, distributing, and archiving HRO publications.
- Manages systems and procedures for hiring, onboarding, and training HRO session staff.
- Coordinates steering committee meetings and communications.
- Engages in significant interaction with House offices and departments, both by phone and in person.
- Assists with production of the Daily Floor Report and other publications.
- Provides research support as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: The preferred candidate will have state legislative, administrative, and clerical experience and be skilled in organization, time management, and interpersonal communication.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: General knowledge of state government policies and procedures preferred. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with members, staff, and the public. Skill in the use of a computer, applicable software, and desktop applications. Must be able to work in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment. Must be able to meet strict deadlines. Must have flexibility to work extended hours, including early mornings and weekends when the legislature is in session and when otherwise required. Must be able to work in the office. This is not a remote position. Must adhere to department dress code and demonstrate the ability to follow all policies and procedures as set forth in the House of Representatives Personnel Manual of Policies & Procedures.
