by: Rep. Toth, Steve

Austin, TX -- This morning, Dennis Bonnen, the Speaker of the House, announced committee appointments for Representative Steve Toth (Conroe) and fellow members of the Texas House of Representatives. Representative Toth was selected to serve on the Appropriations Committee and the Committee on Culture, Recreation & Tourism.

"I am thrilled that House District 15 will be in position to influence the budget this session," said Representative Toth. “Appropriations is one of the most important committees that Members seek to be part of. Coming back to the House with seniority made my Appropriations and Tourism Committees possible. Tourism is a major revenue source for South County and needs to be protected from burdensome regulations. I look forward to getting to work for the constituents of House District 15.”

The House Committee on Appropriations is the funding mechanism for the Texas budget and provides oversight of the many Texas agencies.

As a member of the Committee on Culture, Recreation & Tourism, Rep. Toth will have influence on laws relating to the tourism industry, including the promotion of international and interstate tourism, the operation of state parks and the preservation of Texas' shrines, monuments and heritage. This committee also oversees hunting and fishing laws, and the preservation of wildlife and fish.

During his first term in the 83rd Legislature, Rep. Toth served as a member of the House Committees on Criminal Jurisprudence, and Corrections.

Representative Steve Toth represents House District 15, which encompasses the southern portion of Montgomery County including the communities of Oak Ridge North, Shenandoah, Imperial Oaks, Benders Landing, Tamina, Timber Lakes/Timber Ridge, Woodloch and The Woodlands Township.
