Local Family Decorates 2015 Ornament for Capitol Christmas Tree  print page

by: Rep. Huberty, Dan

Austin, TX - Earlier this month, Representative Huberty and his family accompanied the Otis Family of Humble, TX, to the Texas Capitol to present the District 127 Ornament for the Texas House Christmas Tree. The tree is set-up and decorated in the Chamber of the House of Representatives at the Capitol in December every year, and remains there through the holiday season for visitors to enjoy.

The District 127 ornament for this year was decorated by The Otis Family who reside in the Humble area of the district. David, Deann and Nolan said their ornament were so honored to craft the 2015 Ornament saying, "This was such a great experience for our family. We really enjoyed designing and decorating the ornament, but getting to go to the Texas Capitol with the Huberty Family and hang it on the House Tree was the best part."

The Otis' ornament, features local foliage and a simple Merry Christmas burlap banner. It, along with other House District ornaments, can be viewed on the House of Representatives website at

Speaker Joe Straus and his wife, Julie, invite each House member to provide a decorated ornament to showcase the distinct nature of their House district. The ornaments are all displayed on the Texas House Christmas Tree, a 26-foot tree compliments of Marshall Cathey's in Denison, TX. It will remain on display into January 2016.
