by: Rep. Bohac, Dwayne

HOUSTON-- State Representative Dwayne Bohac (Spring Branch) was recently honored by the Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas (CLEAT) with their "Best of the House" award for his service during the 82nd Legislative Session. This was the second consecutive session that Rep. Bohac received this honor.

CLEAT is the largest law enforcement organization in Texas and represents more than 18,500 peace officers. CLEAT's aim is to ensure that its members receive the support they need while protecting the lives and property of the citizens of Texas.

"Our organization is proud to present this award to Representative Bohac, for a second time, for his continued commitment to the officers of CLEAT and the pursuit of justice," said Chris Jones, CLEAT's Deputy Director of Public Affairs. "Rep. Bohac has always stood up for the families of law enforcement while working to do what is right for his community and the state."

Jones' went on to call Bohac "patriotic" for his authorship of legislation to guarantee property owners the right to openly display the United States and Texas flag. "Every family of an officer who has made the ultimate sacrifice knows the important role the flag plays in honoring that person's service," Jones said.

"I am grateful to receive this award from the state’s largest law enforcement organization. These men and women put their lives on the line every day to ensure the safety of our families and our property," Rep. Bohac said. "We owe a great deal to Texas’ police officers and their families for their unselfish and courageous service."

"Rep. Bohac is unapologetic about his support of law and order and doing what it is right," Jones continued. "That's why CLEAT calls him a friend and we look forward to working with him during the next legislative session."

On November 2, 2010, Representative Dwayne Bohac was re-elected to represent House District 138. Rep. Bohac is a proud, lifelong resident of the district who has focused on improving local quality of life. During the 82nd Legislature, Bohac helped pass a balanced state budget without raising taxes, a resolution calling for a federal balanced budget amendment, voter photo ID legislation, legislation that requires proof of citizenship to obtain a Texas drivers license, stronger pro-life legislation and helped restore more local control for public schools.
