AUSTIN — Jan. 17, 2005 — Heart Of Texas veterinarian Charles “Doc” Anderson was sworn in last week to represent District 56 in the Texas House of Representatives, taking the oath of office at his desk in the House Chamber with wife Sandie at his side.
Among his first official duties are leading a delegation from McLennan County on a visit to Washington for President Bush’s inaugural, and the hiring of staff in the Capitol and District 56 office.
Rep. Anderson’s Capitol staff will be headed up by Matt Welch, who has worked in the Capitol for 21 years for previous members of the Legislature. Rachel Wise, former staffer for a US Congressman from Georgia, will be the administrative assistant.
The Waco office, located at 900 Austin Avenue, Suite 804 of the National Lloyd’s Building, will be led by local businessman Jack Smith. Joining him will be Nancy Bradley of Woodway, who previously did advance staff work for the White House while the President is in Crawford. The local office phone number is (254) 754-3892.
