(Austin, TX) - The Texas Historical Commission is hosting a historical marker workshop in Jasper on August 11th.

The presentations will teach attendees how to research and apply for an Official Texas Historical Marker for their community. The workshop will promote elements that comprise successful marker applications and how they can be applied to future applications.

“Southeast Texas has a rich history and there are potential historical sites that may have not been recognized with a historical marker. I urge citizens and members of our historical commissions to attend this informative workshop to learn how we can find, promote, and preserve our history,” said Rep. White.

The workshop will run from 2-3:30 p.m. at the Jasper County Courthouse Annex (271 E. Lamar St.). To sign up for a marker workshop, please contact the History Programs Division at 512-463-5853 or history@thc.texas.gov.

Please do not hesitate to contact either Saul Mendoza, Chief of Staff, or Shawn Dunn, District Director, with questions regarding these projects at 512-463-0490 or 409-283-3700.
